I was even under the impression they added support in explorer for extracting other types of archives (tar, maybe 7zip).
- tracker1 3mo ago7z was added to Win11 as well as .zip ... noticed it on my assigned work computer.
- Tsiklon 3mo agoPartly, windows defender can open and scan the contents of many archives, but extraction of several popular formats isn’t possible
- Sohcahtoa82 3mo agoThat makes no god damn sense. That means that the code to extract exists on the file system, but only Windows Defender uses it.
- UqWBcuFx6NV4r 3mo agoIt doesn’t “make no goddam sense”. it’s just not convenient for you. There are so many potential “valid” reasons. Licensing? Bad optics?
- TheSeeker11 3mo agoThey did. One can compress natively to TAR and 7z.
