Dmars – A modern Core Wars toolchain

• holliplex 3mo ago
Core Wars is a programming game from the 1980s that is close to my heart. So I wrote a modern parser and runtime for it, aiming for maximal compatibility with pMARS, the canonical implementation. It compiles to webassembly, and you can play with it in your browser. Has anyone run Mythos to get the absolute best "AI" Core Wars warrior?
  • holliplex 3mo ago
Actually, yes! Not Mythos, but a team did use LLMs with genetic algorithms to get a best-performing warrior: https://pub.sakana.ai/drq/ https://pub.sakana.ai/drq/

It's a rock-paper-scissors deal. All warriors are beatable.
