- snapcaster 3mo agoObviously you're right, but none of this stuff matters to the dudes who worship him. As long as he keeps making the people they hate angry they'll support him, even at their own expense
- pluralmonad 3mo agoWhat's wrong with unpasteurized milk and beef tallow?
- p_j_w 3mo ago>What's wrong with unpasteurized milk A substantially increased risk of disease. >What's wrong with [...] beef tallow? A substantially increased risk of heart disease.
- pluralmonad 3mo agoYou don't find traditional foods, like animal fat, causing modern diseases to be exceedingly unlikely?
- p_j_w 3mo agoI'm not sure I understand the question.
- llm_nerd 3mo agoThey're doing the strawman "we evolved with it" tactic commonly found among certain camps. The problem with their argument is not only that no other part of our lives is similar to our "traditional" lives, evolution is basically done with us by 40. So from an evolutionary perspective, dying at 40 of CVD is not corrected for and ultimately doesn't matter. It's the same with the sun exposure nonsense -- evolution again doesn't care if you drop dead of melanoma in middle age, and it had no impact on pumping out a dozen kids and then dying and getting out of the way. In some ways it was optimal.
- quentindanjou 3mo agoThink. Why did we start to pasteurize?
- maerF0x0 3mo agoBased on his push ups and chinups, i hoped there would be a national mandate of exercise for children aka recess and gym class. I'm not usually classified as "incredibly stupid" so your comment is off tone and not aligned with HN's standards of conversation.
- llm_nerd 3mo agoI made an objective statement of fact. RFK Jr. has clearly been a dangerously misinformed clown for years, loosely holding a plethora of opinions straight from the dumbest parts of YouTube/Twitter. I cannot fathom the thought process of someone who would think "oh he is a nutritional nightmare, sounds like the high-school dropout uncle who gets all of his information from chiropractors on YouTube, but he does a couple of pushups so maybe he'll be alright". Worse still, he was clearly a foolish pawn for Chairman Trump and his administration full of dismantle everything industrialists.
- maerF0x0 3mo agocalling people you do not know anything about "incredibly stupid" is not objective fact, and the reason your post was flagged.

- fcarraldo 3mo agoI genuinely do not understand what this person believes is happening here. The Guardian is part of some mass-conspiracy to attack the FDA in order to...achieve what? Prevent unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals from being introduced into the food supply? What sort of mindset must you have to believe this is a bad thing? No one benefits from PFAS being unregulated in food, other than stockholders, C-suites and the politicians who accept money from lobbyists that represent them.
- haussman 3mo agoSome random group files a petition, and the FDA should be sworn to follow whatever it says? That's nonsensical. The FDA is already working on this as per the link I sent. They already agree that PFAS in food would be bad and they are looking into it. Don't you think they should do studies to understand the scope of the problem, or should they just shoot first and ask questions later? The latter would be anti-science.

- llm_nerd 3mo agoAstroturfing conspiracy? What a weird comment. No, friend, I was pointing out that this criminal kleptocracy administration of pathetic self-dealing imbeciles is so indefensible that even its biggest supporters -- I mean, imagine still being gullible enough to think these clowns are on your side -- resort to these sorts of anonymous sneak attack comments. Hence the fresh new account to drop a little FUD. And I mean, in isolation it might work. Sure, they're "studying the data" and making a concrete plan. Only in the face of the enormous environmental damage they're doing -- gestures broadly at everything -- it rings a bit untrue, and the most cynical takes need to get the most weighting. At this point it's clear it's all criminal delay tactics, almost certainly because the right bribes were paid.

- OutOfHere 3mo agoIt got deprioritized in favor of campaign donations, cryptocurrency investments, and general money inflow from PFAS industry lobbyists!
