Plex debuts 5-year membership pass for $250
- ganelonhb 3mo agoJellyfin exists.
- DANmode 3mo agoAnyone want a lifetime pass for less than this? I no longer use them.
- otekengineering 3mo ago$250 doesn't buy you out of them monetizing your data. last year they started selling what content is being watched. next money grab will be selling the list of what's in your media library, all they have to do is update their terms to allow it, like they did last year.
- bomewish 3mo agoPlex + Tailscale = access it from “localhost” wherever you are. Just set up Tailscale serve to serve it in your tailnet. Problem solved. Plex is free again
- KomoD 3mo agoExcept you still don't get hardware transcoding (or the mobile app... IIRC?), there are some workarounds, last I checked, but I suggest using Jellyfin instead. Jellyfin works really well in my experience, but there are definitely some things Plex does better.
