- eimrine 4mo agoIf enshittification is a constant trend, what Claude will look like in a few years?
- mmarian 4mo agoClaude censored from performing certain tasks due to US embargoes. Capitalism with Chinese characteristics.
- eimrine 4mo agoIn this logic it seems reasonable to allow some Chinese version of Claude to talk about self-harm topic without censourship. Let those not friendly counterparties to experience AI not just without some proper functions but also loaded with improper ones. Exactly as stratagem 25 tells "Replace strong piles with rotten ones".
- Arnt 4mo agoEnshittification is neither invariant nor universal — Rolls Royce has built cars for a hundred years and the new models still aren't Ladas or supermarket shopping carts. Claude is a paid service, not one of those freebies where you are the product and receive as little consideration as practically possible, while advertisers are the paying customers for whom the service is optimised.
- beardyw 4mo agoMy guess "People familiar with the matter", are Anthropic's marketing department.
- beardyw 4mo agoChinese don't want to use it (see multiple stories today) and Anthropic don't want them to. Seems like everyone should be happy.
