People RAGE on twitter/facebook/etc because they seek validation and affirmation of their feelings, which is a natural human response. The issue is that unlike a conversation, social media echo-chambers can amplify a tiny comment into a eight week shit-slinging match involving thousands of people. Twitter is Toxic - above and beyond Facebook. The 140 character limit forces people to be succinct to the point of bluntness, and hilarity frequently ensues.
