Open Source Is a Thankless Job
- erminpour 3mo agoThankless? People are straight up hostile!
- throwfaraway135 3mo agoAnyone even a little bit active on the internet is getting "fuck you"s constantly, people need to harden up.
- khurs 3mo agoI think open source foundations should run marketing courses for open source developers as whilst some 'geeks' are great entrepreneurs, many are not entrepreneurial. You see some Github accounts with 'sponsors needed'/buy me a coffee links and other monetisation encouragement. But most don't. The people running the repo need to be proactive in nudging people to donate, otherwise it just won't cross peoples minds. Like those 'donate' messages on Wikipedia we all see.
