- Cthulhu_ 3mo agoI'm not convinced, jailbreaks are becoming more difficult.
- mghackerlady 3mo agotheoretically, the playstations are the most vulnerable since they run static versions of a FreeBSD derived system. the xbox doesn't really need to be jailbroken and the switch line is nearly impossible

I don’t follow this stuff too closely but I thought that I saw people playing the sequel to Breath of the Wild on PCs to get acceptable frame rates when it came out.
- mghackerlady 3mo agoYeah, I should've specified softmods. There was a hardware bug in the launch switches SOC that wasn't patched until a year or so after the consoles launch

- mghackerlady 3mo agoSorry, I should've specified soft mods. iirc there's only been 1 softmod for the switch that was patched out extremely early on before we knew about it
- AussieWog93 3mo agoNah, Switch has been blown wide for almost a decade now.
- ZenoArrow 3mo agoYou're partially right, only the first revision of the Switch 1 could be hacked without modchips, but those early revisions can't have a software patch as the exploit relied on a hardware bug (some design flaw in the NVIDIA Tegra SoC if I remember correctly).
- mghackerlady 3mo agoI don't count that as a soft mod. I was referring to a webkit based exploit in early versions of the system software
- Telaneo 3mo agoGiven enough time, I'm sure it will happen, if only because they're not going to get security updates until the end of time. And even if true, there's always emulation (also a pain though).
- MYEUHD 3mo agoEmulation requires the ability to dump games. And dumping games requires a jailbreak. That's why there's no switch 2 emulation as of now.
