First open source project, any experience sharing?
Hi everyone, I am currently working in one of the Mag7, would like to work on a weekend project.
Due to the lack of time, I feel like opensourcing the project would lead to the most efficiency. Is there any advice for those who do the first opensource project?
- verdverm 3mo agoDouble check company policies and make sure you don't violate them. You probably don't want to end up like this person (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48649011 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48649011) Scratch your own itch, don't expect much from others, most open source software gets few eyes and usage. Good README, docs, and simple setup go a long way to getting people to try it. Above all else, have fun! --- The "... would lead to the most efficiency" is a curious statement, what are your goals for the project?
