This seems like a giant security issue.
- yreg 4mo agoJust like any other app asking for accessibility permissions, no?
- applfanboysbgon 4mo agoDon't give it internet access if you're worried about keylogging. Seems like a complete non-issue if you take any responsibility for your own security at all.
- Dig1t 4mo agoI mean yeah it is basically a keylogger, it's closed source, and it was made by a guy in Israel. I would not install it on my machine.
- tal_alfi 4mo agoi understand the concern of it being closed sourced, to make it safer i notarized it with apple, and the only request the app will ever make is to girhub to see if there are updates. it is closed sourced since there is a voluntary option to purchase the app… the fact im from israel by itself shouldn’t be the reason to be concerned IMO.. vut thats only my opinion…
- tal_alfi 4mo agobtw I see I didn't address the most important point, A keylogger's whole job is to record or send what you type. FlicKey does neither. It keeps a tiny in-memory buffer of just the last few characters you typed (so it can delete-and-retype them when you fix a wrong-layout mistake), and that buffer is wiped constantliy, on every 'return", arrow key, click, shortcut, and app switch. Nothing is written to disk, and nothing is sent anywhere. No network calls at all. You can confirm that part yourself with Little Snitch/Lulu or by watching its connections, it'll have none..
