Been wondering the same. GCP recently increased their egress pricing, and was expecting AWS to follow.
So far, haven't seen any other notable cloud price increases. Thought for sure they'd be reevaluating by now, I'm surprised to see the stability.
- tjwebbnorfolk 4mo agoA ton of cloud workloads are still running on old Haswell-era CPUs with RAM that was bought a decade+ ago. Probably the costs will be made up with new VM shapes.
- rsync 4mo agoWe increased our prices - for the first time in 21 years - last week. The increase was 25% and was, of course, mainly due to hard drive prices.

- re-thc 4mo ago> GCP recently increased their egress pricing The peering announcement or did I miss something? I doubt this has to do with the hardware discussion. This is just them increasing their lock-in and trying to curb businesses running to other CDNs (whole point of the peering).
- pocksuppet 4mo agoEgress pricing? That's one of their highest margin products! Compute is the one that's being squeezed!
- rvnx 4mo agoIt's almost 100% profit actually, because ISPs are willing to pay to be connected to Google network
- justincormack 4mo agoGraviton 5 is 9% more expensive than previous generation https://www.theregister.com/paas-and-iaas/2026/06/11/graviton-5-impresses-but-please-for-the-love-of-all-thats-holy-stop-calling-them-ai-chips/5254316 https://www.theregister.com/paas-and-iaas/2026/06/11/gravito... which isnt strictly an increase but shows direction.
- re-thc 4mo agoGraviton has had a price increase nearly every generation. So not really related.
- cyberax 4mo agoAWS now has unmetered egress, but it's pretty expensive. A 10G port is $8k a month.
- chadgpt3 4mo agoGot some info about this?
- cyberax 4mo agoHere: https://aws.amazon.com/interconnect/multicloud/ https://aws.amazon.com/interconnect/multicloud/ - it's rolling out in us-east-1, and will come to other regions.
- chadgpt3 4mo agoFree for 500Mbps huh? But it only connects to certain other clouds, not the internet.
- cyberax 4mo agoI believe so? It connects to Internet, as long as you have a physical presence in a datacenter that is connected to one of their partners.
- chadgpt3 4mo agoSo you connect AWS to Oracle and connect Oracle to some colo and have a server at that colo and get internet access there and then you're done? Probably still cheaper than AWS egress
- cyberax 4mo agoNo, they support direct interconnect: https://aws.amazon.com/interconnect/lastmile/ https://aws.amazon.com/interconnect/lastmile/ So you just need to be present in one of their DCs.
