Are we asking the right questions? No. But that wasn't the right question... Snark aside: > are we walking blindly into a shift that none of us is ready for? Yes, we are, because none of us can see what it will actually be yet. That makes it hard to not walk blindly. Perhaps the best we could do is to throw out both extremes (AGI on one hand and a nothingburger on the other), leaving a range in the middle, and start acting as if the middle of that range was what was coming. That would leave us, not accurate, but hopefully not too badly wrong.
