Kennedy Center board's new bylaws strip funding if center removes Trump's name
- hn_acker 4mo ago> The Kennedy Center board has filed an emergency motion to stay at the DC Circuit and it is bonkity-bonkers. > For the first time, they say they amended the bylaws to strip all funding from the center if it removes Trump's name. > No Trump KC, no money. > https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cadc.43300/gov.uscourts.cadc.43300.01208860277.0.pdf https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cadc.43... [...] > If the bylaws were amended, they were amended since Judge Cooper issued his order — prob yesterday. > This is the Board choking off funds and saying "you have to let us break the law, or we'll lose all the funds."
- toomuchtodo 4mo agoI suppose they’re losing the funds. King Solomon sends his regards. The country can return funding via Congress after midterms if necessary. - AnimalMuppet 4mo agoI am no longer surprised at how disgustingly this stinks.
- bediger4000 4mo agoThat's pretty drastic. What about President Trump inspires such loyalty, such allegiance? I remember presidents back to Nixon, and only Ronald Reagan seems to have inspired any loyalty, and it's nothing compared to what Trump loyalists are prepared to do for him. I'm baffled by this allegiance.
- hydrogen7800 4mo agoI don't think it's allegiance so much as the metaphorical opposite of a fig leaf. He allows and provides cover fire for the worst intentions of his deputized minions.
- SonOfKyuss 4mo agoRight. This is about “owning the libs”
- hydrogen7800 4mo agoYeah, and he is such an intellectual child, that he can very easily be manipulated by those minions. They let him think he's the brains of the operation, and they get their policies enacted.
- DivingForGold 4mo agoVery clever trick
- AnimalMuppet 4mo agoAmong his voters? For many, it's a cult of personality. Among his staff? Many were put in position because of loyalty, not because of qualification. If they don't continue to show loyalty - blind, unthinking obedient loyalty - to whatever the command of the day is, they're going to lose their exalted position. And they're never going to get another such position, because they're manifestly unqualified for it. So while they have it, they'll do just about anything to keep it, no matter how ridiculous it is.
