Tribute to Jiro Yamada, Automotive Artist (1960-2025) [video]

"A personal tribute to one of my heroes, Jiro Yamada, whose passing in 2025 was confirmed a few days ago." The video has 288 views posting 3 days ago. I'm well confused. How did someone dying in 2025 only get confirmed halfway through 2026? So some digging shows[0] that he died last August, nearly a year ago. Maybe this person lived a very sheltered life and wasn't in the public eye. Maybe it says more about me that someone could be dead for nearly a year before people knew about it. "Sheltered" is assuming a lot, maybe his family didn't know whom to contact in his professional circles, or that his friends and colleagues knew about his passing but had no contact to "the community"...

Reclusive might have been a better word

Interesting to see (roughly!) what percent of each car is engine.

As a kid I loved these illustrations that made it so transparent (pun semi-intended) how a particular car is constructed, and how all the individual components work together. I never learned the name of the artist until I stumbled upon this post, though.
