A question might be "why is it woke?"
And if it's because libtards like it, then you can point out that libtards like coffee, beer, sports, etc -- so when will they boycott those?

- mrhottakes 4mo agoPlenty of people call renewable energy woke
- wallst07 4mo ago"Plenty" Plenty of people stick things in their butt and go to the emergency room. So what.
- pstuart 4mo agoYou seem to be aggrieved by my "politicization" of the topic of renewables. It's absolutely the case and I take no pleasure in bringing the matter up but it's relevant to the discussion. The Trump admin has been very vocal that it wants to only support fossil fuels and nuclear, and that wind and solar are woke and must be destroyed. I would love to be proven wrong but I don't think thats possible. There's an insane amount of wealth tied to fossil fuels (from energy giants down to field workers and well-owners). They all have an incredibly strong bias to keep that money train coming, and the demonization of renewables is directly tied to that.
- dudefeliciano 4mo ago> Woke is cultural Marxism > Woke is an adjective derived from African-American English used since the 1930s or earlier to refer to awareness of racial prejudice and discrimination, often in the construction stay woke. [1] > Cultural Marxism is a far-right antisemitic conspiracy theory that misrepresents Western Marxism (especially the Frankfurt School) as being responsible for modern progressive movements, identity politics, and political correctness. - philipallstar 4mo agoYes, the first one was the original meaning of the word. The second one is... I don't know how to debate someone who quotes Wikipedia like this. It's not what I said. That article looks incredibly one-sided, and uses fallacies of the "You think snow is white? Did you know Adolph Hitler thought snow was white?" persuasion.
- pstuart 4mo agoWhat is "cultural Marxism"? I genuinely do not understand.

- dudefeliciano 4mo agothat's the only thing that comes up on google when searching "cultural marxism wiki". I was making a point with those links, specifically that cultural marxism is a bit of a bs term that doesn't really mean anything. I'm not looking for a debate.
- pstuart 4mo agoThe moment someone sincerely invokes "cultural marxism" the debate is over -- they are unable to engage in a reality-based manner.
- pstuart 4mo agoCould you explain cultural marxism to me in your own words? More so, could you hazard a guess why those friends would be categorically against renewables?
- philipallstar 4mo ago> could you hazard a guess why those friends would be categorically against renewables? The simplest way to understand people's motivations is to ask them, and not to guess what they're thinking and gripe about those guesses on online forums.
- lII1lIlI11ll 4mo agoApparently these days people in US consider a lot of seemingly neutral issues from a political perspective. One of the funniest things I read about recently is that some right-leaning individuals prefer dark-roasted coffee because apparently light-roasted coffee is considered soy-boy-liberal-city thing.
- zahlman 4mo agoRather than guessing, have you considered asking? Sure, sometimes people haven't reasoned themselves into positions, and won't simply be reasoned out of them. But understanding others' epistemology is still the first step to changing minds.
- pstuart 4mo ago>> I know some people who are adamantly against solar and wind I'm guessing about those people. It's very clear that renewable energy is considered to be a liberal ideology by those that oppose renewable energy. > Sure, sometimes people haven't reasoned themselves into positions, and won't simply be reasoned out of them. But understanding others' epistemology is still the first step to changing minds. Both of your points are true but in effect are a contradiction to the original discussion. The moment somebody uses the word woke non-ironically as a reasoning point they are beyond reasoned discussion (at least from my experience). It's beyond vexing because there's no room for real dialog, just talking past each other.
- wallst07 4mo agoYou are the one using the term woke, it's no where in the article. The only people using these terms with regards to solar is terminally online people or people who watch 24/7 news. Texas has more solar capacity than California, does that make Texas woke?
- pstuart 4mo ago> You are the one using the term woke, it's no where in the article. Yes. > The only people using these terms with regards to solar is terminally online people or people who watch 24/7 news. https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ending-the-Green-New-Scam-Fact-Sheet.pdf https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ending... This is a real thing. The reason why I mentioned it is the Trump admin actively killed wind projects and is doing everything it can to destroy renewables so it can be replaced by "clean, beautiful coal" https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jun/04/trump-coal-defense-production-act https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jun/04/trump-coal-d... I loathe the word "woke" but it is a catch-all phrase used by most Trump supporters. I've seen many articles about the conflict over renewables where this dynamic is in play. > Texas has more solar capacity than California, does that make Texas woke? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/30/opinion/texas-wind-renewable-energy.html?unlocked_article_code=1.n1A.DQk5.iQbC3DWsOV-l&smid=url-share https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/30/opinion/texas-wind-renewa... I'm happy to discuss this further if you're willing to engage in good faith.
