I think this article underestimates how weird things could get if we had low employment but a vast surplus of material goods. I don’t think a society has ever really been in that position
- arthurofbabylon 4mo agoI would argue that we almost are in that exact position, except rather than “low employment” per se it is more like “low compensation” or unequal distribution. Consider for a moment our incredible material wealth. We have a surplus of nearly everything, albeit poor distribution. This is balance (keep in mind every system is intrinsically in a state of balance or temporal equilibrium).
