  That might be a possibility, but how much would Google have to pay them for making a phone that outclasses all their other phones in price/performance? Google would have to pay as much as the whole mobile earnings of LG? And destroying the business of the other makers would seem like a bad move, too. I think it must be possible to build such phones for that price, otherwise Google would only pay to destroy it's own ecosystem.
