- whowasmark 5mo agoLook up the organizational chart meme. Look at Amazon's chart. You'll know what's off.
- Cthulhu_ 5mo agoIt's the writing of someone who has been writing articles like this for decades now, instead of your average blogger or journalist. Just enjoy the difference.
- gradstudent 5mo agoCan confirm! I've been reading Rands for 20 years now
- Cthulhu_ 5mo agoI love how he went back and updated some of his older but still relevant writings, like https://randsinrepose.com/archives/nadd/ https://randsinrepose.com/archives/nadd/.
- ikari_pl 5mo agoTo me, as a non-native speaker it feels like a series of interruptions and focus changes with no natural flow. Hard to follow.
- sdevonoes 5mo agoVery. Short. Sentences. That’s AI
- Cthulhu_ 5mo agoAI is trained on but more importantly prompted to write in that style. It's not just annoying⸻it's a choice.
- chrisweekly 5mo agoWrong. Look at the author's long history of posts.
- Quarrelsome 5mo agoits fucking rands. Jesus.
- ForHackernews 5mo agoTerminal LinkedIn brain
- andyjohnson0 5mo agoThis is just how he writes. Busy-executive-bullet-point style. Its not AI.
- drcongo 5mo agoIt's that opening paragraph. > Coffee in hand, I sit down in the Cave. Any Tuesday during the work week, a sip, and I parse the calendar. How many Tuesdays are there in his work week?
- buildsjets 5mo agoMy work week consists of five Tuesdays. It's the seventh best day of the week.
- SAI_Peregrinus 5mo ago3-5, usually. Tuesday is used as a placeholder for "generic day like any other". Monday & Friday might be special, or they might not. But Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are generic & interchangeable: you're not catching up after a weekend, and there's a work day the next day so there will be time to catch issues. They're Tuesdays in spirit, if not in fact.
- drcongo 4mo agoInteresting, I've never come across this usage but makes sense.
- allknowingfrog 5mo agoIt's awfully literary. It reads like James Joyce attempting to convey advice about effective leadership for technical teams. In my opinion, it's an obnoxious, pretentious approach to writing about practical subjects, but I may be in the minority.
- joenot443 5mo agoI think it's just a characteristic voice. Just like you can tell Vonnegut, DFW, or Palahniuk from a couple paragraphs, Rands developed a pretty distinct sound.
