Personally I am confused by this whole rewrite - the 'crown jewel' of Bun is Webkit, which is written in C++, which is 'unsafe'.
This seems like Tauri 2.0 - wrap something in Rust and claim the memory safety issues are gone.
- nsonha 5mo agoThe author was pretty clear about his motivation on the language. It's to make it more sustainable for them to maintain bun (instead of directly making bun safer), but the former can and often will result in the latter.
