296 http requests. 1.85mb transfered. Yslow grade D.
So yeah, these are good advices. In fact, the OP should follow 'em if he wants to "survive".
- popopje 14y agohe says at the bottom "And a disclaimer – don’t look at the source code of my web page – I rarely work on that, and is using an old blogger template. lol"
- mddw 14y agoQuality code ages well. Old is not an excuse for crappy or slow, neither you can so easily disclaim your own code. Would you take fashion advices from someone with horrible and smelly clothes ?
- davewasthere 14y agoMind you, I know builders who still have unfinished jobs around their house. Car mechanics whose own vehicle could use work. Electricians etc... I think valid advice is still valid, regardless of whether they practice what they preach. I also know how little time I have to work on my own sites with various project work I've got on...
- jlas 14y agoYes, but when great web developers on HN are a dime a dozen, I don't want to waste time on content that isn't polished.
- yen223 14y agoThe biggest irony: the HN site itself can hardly be considered 'polished'. I mean it still uses the <center> tag!

- kalininalex 14y agoBut it displays fine on the iPhone (and probably on many other devices and browsers). So, for its purpose it functions reasonably well.
- amazedsaint 14y agoChanged the template, so that you can read it better :). Do Checkout
- viseztrance 14y agoThis is like writing some crappy code, then adding a comment for the next coder that will work on that (when you probably have already moved on) that you didn't had time to make anything better. It changes absolutely nothing.
- TazeTSchnitzel 14y agoReminds me of that blog post on HN I saw about being responsive, which wasn't responsive...
- h2s 14y agoI knew I wasnt missing out on much when an article about advice for the future of web development failed to load correctly on my phone.
- aninteger 14y agoSame here. This site and Steve Yegge's site fail to load in the stock cyanogen browser. Also they fail with Opera Mini. They do work with the Firefox Android browser at least.
- dreamdu5t 14y agoEvery web designer blog post ever.
- amazedsaint 14y agoI had my disclaimer, lol. As I already clarified some where else, these points are what I learned from what I was doing in the last few years, consulting for my customers modernizing their web sites/apps. And thanks for the advice, in fact I'm surviving pretty well ;)
- daniel-cussen 14y agoHe disclaims against that in the end. He lol'ed, even.
- amazedsaint 14y agoAlright dude, now check that again and buy me a beer ;)
