- esseph 5mo ago"greater mandate" Their job is to follow the law, not execute the will of any one person. It's literally the definition of "Rule of Law". https://www.uscourts.gov/educational-resources/educational-activities/overview-rule-law https://www.uscourts.gov/educational-resources/educational-a...

- PierceJoy 5mo agoThe rule of law is definitely dead, but the evidence is that this man was deported mistakenly and then charged with a fictional crime to cover up that mistake.
- solid_fuel 5mo ago> "greater mandate than the president" Fuck off with that boot-licker attitude. We live in a democracy, not a monarchy. The president has a mandate to follow the law not the other way around.
- amanaplanacanal 5mo agoThe incompetence of the political hires in the Justice department is frankly appalling.
- halJordan 5mo agoThe doj in particular has had an egregious exodus of career talent too. And the thing is, that these people aren't coming back. The private sector has always been better. They'll get jobs on the outside and won't come back. We've already seen it with doctors who got doge'd. The bureaucrats (who let it happen in first place) finally convinced their political overseers that "hey we need doctors for this hospital" and got approval to rehire. But get doctors won't rehire, bc even at the best of times govt service sucks.
- mingus88 5mo agoIt’s actually a good thing. Imagine if they were competent.
- burnt-resistor 5mo agoBad political hires are an incredibly dangerous risk for when there is an emergency requiring competency and leadership. I would prefer many fewer political hires, more competency, and more legally-firewalled independence.
- tremon 5mo agoI'm not seeing any mention of prejudice here. Does this mean we get to watch season 2 after the summer break?
- nkurz 5mo agoThe judge's full decision (which is quite readable) is here: https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/crenshaw-ruling-abreg-garcia-vindictive-prosecution-indictment-dismissed.pdf https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/cr...
