First reaction - Men whose "young adult" days were well back into the last century also want to open jars. If you're willing to use a tool or two, it's still easily done. Maybe the difference is that I got used to using tools, back when those were more-manly things like screwdrivers and socket wrenches?
Second reaction - If you want the food to be safe to eat, but without the extra cost and hassle of jars with separate home-canning-style lids and bands, then being hard to open may be pretty inescapable.
- AnimalMuppet 5mo agoHeh. When in serious need, break out the giant ChannelLocks, and have someone else hold the jar. A foot of leverage can move most lids...

- rekabis 5mo ago> just gently dent the edge of the metal lid, enough to break the seal I think you need to know about the JarKey (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00167Z2UO/ https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00167Z2UO/). Does the job without any risk of damaging glass or even the jar lid itself.
- apothegm 5mo agoI suspect a lot of people don’t know that jar opening tools exist beyond the flat pieces of grippy rubber. Amazing what adding a handle and a bit of leverage can do.
