Search PPP Loans on an interactive map
- zarie 5mo agoAn interactive map of every loan the SBA approved under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP Loans) during COVID — 11.8M loans, ~$800B. Best viewed on your desktop. Posted an earlier version of this a year ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42969334 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42969334) and got a lot of useful feedback. This is a rewrite focused on the biggest complaint from that version: you used to have to type in a ZIP code to see anything, which made the dataset feel like a lookup tool instead of something you could explore. The map is the primary surface now. Pan and zoom and the data loads under you — clustered pins at low zoom, individual loans as you zoom in. Search works for ZIP, business name, and state; NAICS code, loan amount, year, and forgiveness status are filters on top of whatever you're looking at.
