Missed opportunity to call this a "Phil-Anthropic" partnership. The word doesn't appear once in TFA. Highly disappointed.
Seeing some of the comments here speculating about ulterior motives, I'd like to say there are probably none other than the usual (goodwill, publicity, taxes, etc.) A little known aspect of the Gates Foundation finances, their problem really isn't getting more money. Their biggest problem is spending their money faster than it grows.

- ffsm8 5mo agoWasnt his only connection fcking a legal Russian teen and getting STDs from that? (And consequently getting blackmailed for that) While he's a shit person for that (taking advantage of sexual trafficking victims is despicable), I'm not sure I'd be comfortable to use that term - but maybe I'm just not informed enough?

- snickerbockers 5mo agoIf you go to a private island owned by a man who's known for being a convicted pedophile and you attend sex parties on said island hosted by said pedophile when it is known that some subset of those sex parties involve what can be at best termed "statutory rape" (if we were to give the benefit of doubt to somebody who does not deserve it) and then you donate millions of dollars to a supposed charity at the behest of said pedophile in response to his having threatened to reveal something to your wife that would in all likelihood culminate in the sudden termination of your marriage to her then there is still a possibility that you yourself are not actually a pedophile but I'll just go ahead ans assume that you are one anyways.
- atonse 5mo ago> Their biggest problem is spending their money faster than it grows. Yep this is an interesting thing that most of us don't tend to think about when it comes to philanthropy (or even gov spending) ... it's really really hard to _spend_ money effectively. Because there's all the work around accountability, checking for fraudulent applications, checking if your money made an impact, deciding where to even focus, all those things.
- jedberg 5mo agoNot only that, but to legally be a charity, you have to spend at least 5% of your assets every year. So not only do they have to stay ahead of their own growth, they have to spend down 5% of quite a lot!
- snickerbockers 5mo agoAgreed, I imagine it's been a lot harder for bill to offload all that excess money ever since jeff epstein died.
- mohamedkoubaa 5mo agoMost convincing evidence to date that he is in fact dead
- motbus3 5mo agoIt would need to be Bill-anthropic which somehow sounds much like it
