Pix is for domestic use right? So tourists who come to Brazil still use Visa and Mastercard as well as Brazilian tourists who travel abroad. Visa and Mastercard are companies of the past, crypto and stablecoins will destroy them sooner or later.
- SirFatty 5mo ago"crypto and stablecoins will destroy them sooner or later." LOL!
- mrkramer 5mo agoI meant digital dollar and digital euro, you won't need Visa and Mastercard anymore.
- cyberax 5mo agoDollar is already "digital", and has been for the last 50 years or so.
- mrkramer 5mo agoI meant this https://www.federalreserve.gov/central-bank-digital-currency.htm https://www.federalreserve.gov/central-bank-digital-currency..., this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_euro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_euro and this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_renminbi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_renminbi
- cyberax 5mo agoIt's just buzzwordy bullshit. The European system is just a classic credit/debit system. The Chinese system is a bit more sophisticated, with offline capability and smart contracts. But it doesn't use any distributed proof-of-work/stake stuff.
- wslh 5mo agoNo, for example Argentinian tourists use Belo[1] for paying in Brazil. No need for credit cards. [1] https://www.belo.app/en-us/ar/ https://www.belo.app/en-us/ar/
- fmobus 5mo agoHow many transactions can you ran per second on major coins like BTC?
- ric2b 5mo agoDepends on what you mean, if using batching technologies like Lightning Network it is theoretically unlimited. If you mean on the globally replicated and stored forever blockchain, I think it's 50/s or something like that.
- fmobus 5mo agoI keep hearing those marvels about how lightning network solves everything and gives everyone a pony, but it is currently estimated to perform about 200k transactions per day. Pix achieves literally a thousand times that.
- martheen 5mo agoCross border payment with QR codes are already a thing in plenty of Southeast and East Asian countries. Crypto and stablecoins aren't needed (nor wanted, due to money laundering risks).
