- Yizahi 5mo agoHi. Could you please describe your opinion on the compatibility and stability (especially everything wireless) of the system?
- binary132 5mo agoI’ll try to remember to leave a comment here once I have a chance to put it through its paces soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a little rough around the edges, but I think that they’ve had some time to iron things out with the first generation and I expect it to be pretty good on Windows based on numerous reviews. I’m mainly wondering how it will do with Gentoo.
- binary132 5mo agoAfter a couple of days of monkeying with powershell, cmake, uv, and bootstrapping LLVM I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the overall stability and usability. The only thing that didn’t “just work” so far was building uv from source. Plus it’s wicked fast at compiling and doesn’t get unbearably hot or loud, and it’s insanely light. Haven’t had a chance to try any Vulkan apps or x86 emulation (that I know of) yet. The only other issues were: during the system setup process, I had to reconnect to wifi a couple of times, and before I updated the display driver, it flickered or flashed a few times when it was on night mode. So far everything I’m doing is ARM native, but if I run into any x86 weirdness I’ll update here. I have noticed one or two things I wanted to install that didn’t have ARM native releases (e.g. wezterm), but most stuff seems to be packaged for arm by now.

- fmajid 5mo agoWhat specific model did you get? Linux compatibility seems to be spotty at best on these
