... actually my last comment isn't true, thinking back, yes I did work in a war room setup for a couple of summers back in the eighties, though it wasn't called by any particular name back then, nor had I started thinking about working environments as a topic at all, so I hadn't really connected it with this discussion. It was suboptimal but tolerable because I was a teenager with lots of energy to spare, and honestly the code I was writing was bread-and-butter stuff that was far enough within my capabilities that it didn't need absolute concentration.
