- kubrick 18y agoIt's a technicality. I did a thesis on the movie, and that's why I suppose I'm picking on a nit. Clarke wrote the novel later, but he and Kubrick wrote the screenplay together over the course of maybe three years. Clarke did always intend to novelize it, but a simultaneous release wasn't planned. (But I admit I'm totally picking nits.)
