I discovered NixOS this year and I'm afraid I won't be back Windows. TBH Windows has been pretty good to me. This laptop was running at least 4 years on the same install. I never really found that Windows got in my way except for "This file is being used by another process" annoyances that I don't get with Linux. For ages I felt that Windows + WSL2 was the best of both worlds, but NixOS gives me a reproducible OS configuration that means I'll never have to fully build my OS again, and every installed app / routine is documented in code. This feels like the way forward.
