- ricardobeat 14y agoYes, the similarities are too great to ignore #not
- arrrg 14y agoI do not see them failing like RIM. They might well fail like Sony (i.e remain largish but slowly fade into irrelevance). I can totally see that happening.
- zdw 14y agoOr, like Microsoft? (flat stock for the last ~10 years)
- arrrg 14y agoI’m not sure whether that’s a good comparison, but that could be down to personal taste. Microsoft made tons of money by selling an extremely boring product. That’s never something Apple did. Plus Apple sells hardware, Microsoft software. They are fundamentally different companies. I can see Apple having a stock like Microsoft (i.e. flat for a decade), I can’t really see them being like Microsoft.
- gabhijit 14y agomay be not - sony had quite a wide range of products to sustain, when you are essentially banking on one or two products, it's very hard!
- Anechoic 14y agoRIMM had $100 billion in cash 4 years ago?
- gabhijit 14y agoIt may not be same in magnitude, but direction certainly looks like that. And again there's nothing wrong with AAPL per se, IMO, there's a trend about cell phones - every 4-6 yrs there's a leader and then that leader is replaced by someone else! AAPL has gone past it's prime day as the leader in cellphone market. I know it bleeds the hearts of AAPL fans, but markets don't care much about that!
