It is not genocide until it is called genocide, or at least this is what the people in the west apparently think. Otherwise one would expect orders of magnitude more of indignation and outcry. In Israeli schools (I was in one of them) history teachers liked to pose the question: "how it was possible that such horror (genocide of the European jews) took place, and the world stayed silent?" Well, today this question can be studied first hand.

    Hacker News is a deeply liberal place. This means, that order and civility must be maintained and this is considered more important than all other goals combined. You cannot call something a genocide or a holocaust because that is rude and uncivil. Unless the authority in charge of declaring genocides and holocausts has called it one, then it's an Official Fact so it's okay. You cannot, under any circumstances, say there is something wrong with another person, or call them a fascist, because that is rude and uncivil. It is an Official Fact that Hitler and Mussolini were fascists, so you can call them fascists, but you can't make the inference for yourself that anyone else is a fascist, only the various ministries of fascism can make that determination by following a civil process. Calling people Jews is uncivil unless they brought it up. Do you think I'll get shadowbanned now?

  (My comments get hidden, trying to reply again.) Have you heard Netanyahu saying right after 7th October "We are also the nation of Joshua"? The references to "Amalek" (not by him personally perhaps)? Do you think Israelis did not understand what he meant? The citation by Netanyahu from Byalik "the revenge for the blood of a little child was not yet created by the Satan", then going on with killing of many thousands of palestinian infants (obviously these are not little children in his and his likes world). And there is of course so much more..
