Disclaimer: lay person, not American or Canadian. Whilst I understand your point in isolation, I don't understand how it refutes GP. AFAIK, the current US administration has cut spending on most things (the military and ICE being notable exceptions). As such, the suggestion that the ballooning debt is due to tax cuts seems perfectly valid.
