That discussion has a quote about querying the LLM for version information. If the models hallucinate/make up court citations, work and facts, what makes them believe that the model provided a genuine version number as opposed to an generatively constructed string?
- jedimastert 6mo agoWould it even be possible for a model to know its own version number? I guess maybe if they decide to put it in the system prompt or something
- jaffathecake 6mo agoYes! It might lie or hallucinate. But also, all browsers claim to be "Mozilla/5.0" in their user agent string. It's a very similar problem.
