I finally moved off Sublime a few months ago because I wanted something open source and stumbled on KDE/kate. It's been a perfect substitute. https://github.co

- giancarlostoro 6mo agoActually, I do like Kate, but Zed seems to give me the best of everything I want. It's like they know exactly what I want out of an editor, they provide way more than I need, but that is okay too.
- vunderba 6mo agoI think I need to give Zed another look. A while back, it seemed like they’d shifted gears toward prioritizing AI, and I lost interest because I was looking for a more pure IDE with solid LSP support, good debugging tools, and so on.
- kstrauser 6mo agoThey've prioritized supporting AI for people who want to use it, but it's highly respectful of devs who don't want to.
- sieve 6mo agoKate is REALLY underrated. The UI is a bit meh, but it makes up for it in terms of features. It is actually a fantastic document editor. Don't really use it for coding.
