Does that mean withdrawing US forces from Germany and elsewhere? Does that mean ceasing to use Europe as a strike base for the middle east?

- pjc50 6mo agoThe US decision to enter the war was independent of (and I think before?) the extermination camps, purely decided by Germany declaring war on the US. The practice of interning a large number of people in camps without access to legal process .. well, which side of the Atlantic has more of that at the moment?
- lostlogin 6mo agoThe US are also supporting some rather dubious actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
- traderj0e 6mo agoThis is a valid criticism. We're not only enabling war crimes but also going totally against our own interests. UK and EU are supporting it too, but not nearly as much as the US. And UK more than EU.

- traderj0e 6mo agoEU has even larger migrant camps, mainly on the eastern side like in Greece. They're not citizens, so they don't get the same legal rights. The rest were pushed away at gunpoint. US has been accepting far more migrants, both legal and illegal, than the EU. There are 14M illegal immigrants steadily living in the US, imagine that over there. The difference is nobody holds the EU to US standards, cause that would be "punching down," but I don't mind doing it. Just like when the US cuts research funding, people get mad and say the EU should take those researchers, but turns out the EU won't pay them either. So I don't care what EU citizens say about American issues, actions speak louder than words.
- traderj0e 6mo agoOh and neither one is comparable to actual internment camps because people are free to leave back into their own countries.

- piva00 6mo ago> You don’t understand it because it’s clearly a second language for you. That’s fine. It’s not shameful to have poor proficiency in another language but you should know that your lack of comprehension comes from your inability and it can be fixed with practice. First: surely you are aware of Hacker News' guidelines about snarkiness, I invite you to read them again and remain civil when trying to have a discussion here. Second: my failure of comprehension comes from your lack of communication skills, trying to use evasive language to hide a point instead of clearly stating out what you want to say, probably stemming from a general character trait of cowardice, and not my proficiency on a second language. If you wish we can chat in any of the three languages I'm proficient at but I believe on Hacker News it's pretty good to keep it in English, so next time be clear about your argument or intent, I much prefer to talk to people who don't cowardly hide their speak behind coded language. It makes communication more effective, learn that.
