Google could lock out Graphene too, whenever they like, with no warning. I hope Graphene has a plan.
- palata 6mo agoThat's the real fight. We should fight to make this illegal. It should be mandatory to provide the technical ability to install an alternative OS on a computer, period.
- drnick1 6mo agoThey could conceivably lock the bootloader, but Graphene now has a partnership with Motorola.
- mmooss 6mo agoThere are many ways Google could prevent third parties from using Android code, and the code of Android components (e.g., Google Play), to make varient OSes. Without Android support and compatibility, it would be very tough going for GrapheneOS. They already are slowing the publishing of AOSP (or something like that).
- Andromxda 6mo agoThey're partnering with Motorola to build devices with official GrapheneOS support. https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/116159602850585685 https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/116159602850585685
