I like this worldview. Prior to coffee, Europe was in the grip of the beer dwarves. Coffee demons took over and invented nationalism, capitalism and Keynesian economics.

- nervousvarun 5mo agoObligatory recommendation for: Uncommon Grounds: The History of Coffee and How it Transformed our World by Mark Pendergrast Fantastic book. I first encountered it...in a coffee shop :) Read a chapter and immediately bought the book for myself.
