I think you're over thinking things. China has traded with Europe for many centuries and it will continue. If we have some tariffs then so what? The Chinese buy a lot of European high end fashion - Gucci, Prada, Rolex etc. In the UK a lot come to study. The technology thing is complicated. Europe still makes quite a lot of high end stuff like Airbus, Rolls Royce jet engines, Mercs, German/Swiss machine tooling, F1 cars etc. But the Chinese are cheaper for normal gizmos.
