IETF draft-meow-mrrp-00
- hootz 6mo agoWhy?!
- gonium 6mo agobecause!
- connicpu 6mo agoCan't let pilots have all the fun
- frantathefranta 6mo agoIt feels like a reply to the IPv8 draft[0] that got viral yesterday. [0]: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-thain-ipv8-00.html https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-thain-ipv8-00.html
- dark-star 6mo agoThat IPv8 one at least made sense. This one here doesn't, and it is not even funny
- ectospheno 6mo agoThe ipv8 one required all traffic on a network comprising 4 billion ips to go through one server. It was far from sensical.
- cosmojg 6mo agoOh wow, yeah, this is clearly a parody of that IPv8 draft. Just look at the ASCII tables! I suppose it's a commentary on how low the bar is for submitting drafts to the IETF.
- DeepYogurt 6mo agoI guess this shows how low of a bar there is for getting something in as an ietf draft. Adds context for that ipv8 post from the other day for sure
- JesseTG 6mo agoThe author must be hungry.
- zamadatix 6mo agoThe author has a fun website too: https://matdoes.dev/ https://matdoes.dev/ Complete with 88x31 buttons, sparkling star gifs, and a visit counter.
- brianpane 6mo agoThis seems ill-advised. The protocol as documented is trivially exploitable by reflection attacks. The cat next door said one meow, and now every cat in the neighborhood is wailing in response.
- zdw 6mo agoDogs have the same failure mode, except also influenced by non-domesticated canines such as coyotes and wolves, so a worse attack vector.
- crankoy 6mo ago[flagged]
- teddyh 6mo agoDisappointingly, this draft does not reference previous important and influential work in this field: <https://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.pdf https://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.pdf>. (Also available in video format: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL_-1d9OSdk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yL_-1d9OSdk>)
- vondur 6mo agoReminds me of the chicken presentation: https://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.pdf https://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.pdf
- chrismorgan 6mo agohttps://f.matdoes.dev/notice/B5MVd4KD0Oh5Rfwaoq https://f.matdoes.dev/notice/B5MVd4KD0Oh5Rfwaoq: > i wrote an internet standard https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-meow-mrrp-00.html https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-meow-mrrp-00.html (it's published on ietf.org so you know it's real and official and endorsed by the ietf) Sounds like a reaction to the IPv8 draft, pointing out that anyone can publish anything there and it means nothing.
