Done this a long time ago. It wasn't prices that drove me away from Netflix and Co. It was how old contents started to be "updated" for "modern audiences/values", and how movies/shows kept being moved around between platforms. Got my Bluray player, I buy a movie once in a while when I consider it a "classic" that I really want to have, otherwise local library has a lot of options. And worst case scenario, the high seas. Same principles with music and games. I still get/burn CDs.
