- allears 7mo agoBecause prediction markets are vital to our national interests
- WalterGR 7mo agoHow so?
- pseudohadamard 7mo agoBecause the president's son is on the board of the best-known of the prediction markets. Since it's in the national interest to help enrich the president and his family, regulating prediction markets is contrary to said national interest.
- bediger4000 7mo ago"US" or Trump? Pre-2025, the DoJ was quite independent. Since Trump assumed office again, it's been servile to Trump himself. Headlines should inform us of that. If it's Trump directing this, that's a total conflict of interest for him.
- jfengel 7mo agoThere aren't any laws against conflict of interest by the President. It wouldn't stop him if there were, of course. But he doesn't even have to worry about some future independent counsel looking into it. The only brake on it would be the voters.
