Not related to donations but product wise Libreoffice just feels so clunky and Java-ish to use. I switched to OnlyOffice a year ago and other than its almost complete lack of settings it's been so much nicer to use.

Russian software is pretty obviously more likely than most other countries to have security / privacy concerns doesn't inherently mean that it all does, American software presents a lot of privacy concerns internationally as well (not that I am by any means calling them equivalents!).
