Why can't he get funding and support?
- nis0s 8mo agoBecause as someone said in the thread that in two years the LLM will just read the docs and produce perfect Bend code.
- hmokiguess 8mo agoThat’s just sad, makes me question what’s the point of writing software these days.
- saltynews 8mo agoThe sad reality of VC funding right now is that they aren't looking for 'better languages,' they're looking for 'AI-native moats. If a project's value can be automated away by a 2-year-future LLM, it's a hard sell for them.
- hmokiguess 8mo agowhat's a good example of an AI-native moat these days? I feel like it's saturated and software is dying
- armchairhacker 8mo agoIIRC he got $millions in funding. What does he need more funding for? How would he “native train” models to write Bend? Why is said method better than (as others say) the bitter lesson?
- hmokiguess 8mo agofair point, maybe not more funding then but I wonder why big labs hesitate to collaborate or partner with him? I just feel like he has such an interesting niche with enormous potential that for someone like NVIDIA or HuggingFace could be a win-win scenario, wonder what gives
- armchairhacker 8mo agoHow would they partner with him? Even with RVLR I don't understand what "native training" is or how it would work, and apparently neither the people in the big labs (who are LLM experts unlike any of us). I agree he has lots of potential and what he's demonstrated deserves funding, but don't see why he needs more, or even what he'd do with it.
