The Pain and the Glory of Nonmonogamy
- StilesCrisis 8mo agoI gotta say, this isn't really selling me on the idea: > I am overwhelmed with insecurity. “I’m so insecure,” I say. “I wanna kill that girl.” I contort my face into a grimace. “No, you’re mine, she’s gotta get away. Do you think she’s better than me? Oh god.” The fear washes over me, and my partner simply holds me in it, not trying to fix it. He just stays with me as I go through it. “Ahhhh,” I say. He says something like “Yeah, it seems really scary.” I agree. It is really scary! “I’m scared I’m gonna lose you forever,” I say. “That’s intense,” he says, stroking my hair.
- tim-tday 8mo agoThis makes no sense. The whole reason for monogamy is that multiple relationships are hard. That should be obvious to everyone. Anyone who has considered non-monogamy for more than five minutes should be able to think of at least three big problems. How can one decide to go the other way without any consideration of the repercussions, without any exploration of past solutions to the big problems? Without reading the book? I closed the article without finishing with the thought “are you fucking kidding me?”
