- ninalanyon 7mo agoWhat makes it "impractical in this day and age". My wife and her mother knitted sweaters, cardigans, scarves, hats. My wife also sewed skirts, blouses, and full length winter coats. I don't have any hand knitted skirts but I do have several that were commercially machine knitted. I'm quite sure that had my wife wanted to she could have knitted and sewn many complete suits of clothes.
