I am curious how your back of the envelope calculations valued the reduction in transportation speed and cost afforded by fossil fuels over sails, paddles, and draft animals for the last 150 years or so. Likewise, curious about the cost and value that air conditioning and refrigeration have provided. I'm not sure how you do a back of the envelope calculation to address opening up the southern United States-- something that wouldn't have been likely without the low cost of electricity given by coal (outside the TVA region).
