Drivers feel entitled not to have to drive into a disaster zone for the same price and would rather stay home. So either way, whether or not prices are raised or prices stayed the same, the result to you and everyone who feels similarly entitled, would be the same - walk home. At least by raising prices, those who are willing to pay the higher price will be able to get a cab.
