I enjoyed this as well, and I know absolutely nothing about the field. I think that's why the writing is so enjoyable, I understood the conversation without understanding most of the details. I for one would greatly enjoy more such writing on HN, it's a refreshing change from some of the bloggier posts that make the majority of the frontpage.
