- al_borland 7mo ago> Visual changes include a floating taskbar with rounded corners that detaches from the screen bottom, transparent glass elements throughout the interface, and system indicators moved to the upper-right corner. They just described the macOS dock and status menus.
- fodkodrasz 7mo agoMicrosoft working hard to ruin the Windows brand... copying the worst parts of MacOS, and coming up with their own user-hostile innovations too. Everything listed there makes me consider abandoning windows. It is getting slightly worse every release overall, despite great advances on some fronts (eg WSL2, robust graphics subsystem, Storage Spaces). With Win11 the taskbar and Start were already gutted, and regressed a lot, also with the borderless windows, and wide margins, and the terrible trend continues.
- FrankWilhoit 7mo agoMicrosoft always float trial balloons like this in advance of product releases. They envision maximal hardware and/or licencing requirements. Then they are quietly dropped or scaled back. But Windows is a mass-market, consumer-grade product and they are not going to sell hundreds of millions of copies off the back of a forced hardware upgrade, this year of all years. The supply chain isn't even going to be there.
- KnuthIsGod 7mo agoSo glad I abandoned windows and moved to Linux for my desktop.
