- whatever1 7mo agoText sucks in oled displays. 200 ppi is not enough to make it look decent. OLED smartphones have much higher ppi to deal with this.
- aethrum 7mo ago4k OLED text is great.
- jsheard 7mo agoUpcoming OLED panels are switching to vertical RGB stripe, similar to LCDs, which should fix the remaining text issues. https://www.tomshardware.com/monitors/lg-display-reveals-worlds-first-4k-240hz-oled-gaming-monitor-with-a-true-rgb-striped-subpixel-layout-new-panel-succeeds-woled-with-multi-stack-tandem-oled https://www.tomshardware.com/monitors/lg-display-reveals-wor...
- roboror 7mo agoWOLED handles text much better than QDOLED, I don't think anyone would say the 27" 4k versions "suck"
- JoshTriplett 7mo ago> Text sucks in oled displays. Not anymore, as long as you make sure that any RGB antialiasing is turned off. Linux defaluts to disabling this and doing only grayscale antialiasing, so it looks great on an OLED out of the box. Windows can be configured to do this.
- Eric_WVGG 7mo agoLow-res is low-res. Curves on SVGs and vector graphics look terrible.
- PaulDavisThe1st 7mo agoI have no idea what you mean by "Linux defaults to" ... what possible Linux-wide global could there be for antialiasing? Apps are free to turn on different kinds of antialiasing for text rendering all by themselves.
- JoshTriplett 7mo agoDefault configurations in font rendering on typical distributions.
